Meet Levi The Dog!
This is LEVI! We adopted him about ten days ago and he finally got to take the Cone Of Shame off (he was wearing it so he wouldn't lick the area where he was neutered). So far he and Wrangler The Dog are getting along just fine!

Happy 6th Dog-iversary, Wrangler!
It was six years ago we adopted Wrangler The Dog. Since then, he and I have probably walked hundreds of miles - maybe thousands. He's always in a good mood and has that goofy dog-smile on his face.

Tucson hits 100, I hit 400.
Tucson hits 100 (degrees), I hit 400 (miles).
I've been participating in the "walk 100 miles with the mayor" challenge since earlier this year. I walked a little more than 400 miles since it began in January. Wrangler The Dog walked most of those miles with me,
It all culminates with the Meet Me Downtown 5k this evening... on the day Tucson hits 100-degrees for the first time this year.
Gonna be a hot one. Bring plenty of bottled water.... see you down there!

Long week / short weekend
I am writing this on Sunday night. I know it's cliche, but why does time on the weekend go much faster than time during the week?
I will take a few moments to be grateful for some things. This is not a list of everything I'm grateful for... So don't feel left out if I don't mention you :-)
First, I am grateful for my family. They put up with a lot - it's not always glamorous in radio. Odd-hour phone calls, working late, working early, etc. Technology makes it easier than it was even a couple of years ago, but I'm never really "off" from work.
Next, I am grateful for Wrangler The Dog. He and I have walked a few thousand miles together over the last couple of years. Between Wrangler and giving up soda (mostly), I feel healthier than I have in forever.
I am grateful for the clients who make what I do for a living possible. That statement may surprise some people I work with... But my standard of living would not be possible without their support of my radio station.
I am grateful that Tucson is a good place to raise a child. There are a lot of thing I would miss about this town if we ever left. Besides Eegees and the Saguaro cactus, I would miss our friends, the good schools in Marana, the weird news that seems to be attracted to this place, the amazing sunsets and the clear, star-filled skies almost every night.
A few reflections for the end of the weekend. See you on the radio

A year with a pedometer
The other day I posted about my fitbit digital pedometer that I've been wearing. Today marks one year since I first started wearing it - I've worn it pretty much every day, everywhere, since. So on the one year anniversary, I thought I'd take a look at some of my statistics:
Total steps: 3,888,314 - almost four million steps
Total distance: 1863 miles walked
Most active day: this past Sunday, more than ten miles total, including more than three at The Race For The Cure
As you've probably read, in that time I've lost about 30 pounds... mostly due to the strict reduction in soda-intake, but also due to the walking.
Many of those steps and miles, I've been accompanied by my loyal sidekick Wrangler The Dog.

Walk 100 miles with Tucson's mayor
The mayor has issued a challenge: walk 100 miles between now and June 1st and you'll get special recognition from the mayor's office.
Should be a piece of cake to walk 100 miles with Wrangler The Dog. I've signed up - you should, too!

Things I Love About My Dog, part 2
He's always optimistic... optimistic that someone will leave their pizza slice unattended at the table. More things I love about my dog here.
