But in the five years since we adopted Wrangler The Dog, I've been getting more exercise than ever. Most days we walk at least 2-3 miles per day. Some days we walk a LOT more. I think one day we walked six miles in the morning, and two more miles that evening.
I didn't do it to lose weight. I did it to get off the couch and get a little exercise.
But as I've gotten older, I've become more conscious of my weight. I've always been 10-20 pounds overweight (at least, as an adult). I figured, with all that walking, I should be losing some weight, too, right? But I wasn't.
So a few months back I quit drinking soda. Cold turkey. My one vice. For three weeks I didn't drink anything but water.
And I didn't really miss it that much.
Then we went to Ireland on vacation and I had a Coke (and a smile) in Dublin.
Since then, I've been drinking WAY less soda than I had before my cold-turkey-stint. Where I might have two sodas a DAY before, now I'm maybe having two sodas a WEEK.
And then the weight started to come off.
I was around 215 about four months ago.
Today I weighed myself, and the scale said 193. Down about 20 pounds.
Yay! Think I'll drink a soda today to celebrate.
