Who's Popping Out Of The Coffin
In case you missed it, from time to time we get questions about contests. Here's one we do each year prior to Halloween, "Who's Popping Out Of The Coffin?"
Monday, November 07, 2011
How to win George Strait tickets this afternoon on KiiM FM - sometime this afternoon we'll play the "George Strait's Rear End Game." We'll play the "rear end" of a George Strait song, and if you're the ninth caller, and can tell me the title of the song, you'll win! Get it? George Strait's Rear End?

Happy Halloween!

Guess What The Chainsaw Massacre Guy Is Using Instead Of His Chainsaw!
You know how in the horror movies, the crazed psycho with the chainsaw runs thru a town carving up the people who live there?
Well, what if he didn't have a chainsaw? What if he had a leaf blower? What would that sound like?
It would sound like this (trust me, it sounds better on the radio):
In today's contest, you have to guess what the Chainsaw Massacre Guy is using instead of his chainsaw. Get it?
Good luck!

Max & Shannon are back from Hawaii tomorrow! We took one last opportunity to play Jeff Foxworthy's Howdy From Maui!
Today we talked to Billy Scroggs, the headliner at En Fuego, which is a fundraiser for the American Red Cross this weekend at AVA Amphitheater. We also gave away tickets by playing "HOT or NOT." KiiM-FM's Lois Lewis will emcee the event this Saturday. For more info, check out http://www.kiimfm.com/concerts! He's in a competition called FAMECAST, get more on that here!
For folks who missed it, we re-ran the interview we did last week with Tracy Lawrence. It's also available to listen to here.
Chop was on the streets with tickets to the KiiM-FM Freedom Festival.
We played the Keith Urban Quickie another three times today. Robin knew all the songs:
But For The Grace Of God
Somebody Like You
Stupid Boy
It's A Love Thing
Who Wouldn't Want To Be Me
Making Memories Of Us
Better Life
and she won the 2nd row tickets and the trip backstage!
Chop finally ran over his sixty second time limit for his country music minute, so he got a jolt from the KiiM-FM truck battery. Don't try this at home. No DJs were harmed in today's show.
Finally, here's a video of a furby in a microwave:

We played Hot Or Not to give away tickets to En Fuego, a benefit for the Southern Arizona Red Cross. For example, FIRE = HOT. DQ BLIZZARD = NOT. Congratulations to Micha who got 'em all and won tickets. You can buy tickets at Ticketmaster, 321-1000, and it's for a good cause!
Chop got an email from Wilma and Wilbur, the mascots at the UofA. They love listening to KiiM-FM!
Josh won $100 with the 7:10 payoff question. Rayna and Tina each won $100 with the Song Of The Day.
We played the Keith Urban Kwickie three times to try to give away 2nd row seats for Keith's show this Friday. Two of our contestants got three of the seven right, so it pays to pay attention. We'll keep playing until someone gets all seven songs.
At 6:40, we played Kingergarten Theater to give away tickets to the summer movie series at the Fox Theatre. The movie clip was read by two kids and the answer was Star Wars! Congrats to Skyler, who knew the answer! This weekend's movie is GREASE, and you can get the whole Summer Classic Movie Schedule here!

It's June already? Crazy.
We played "Guess What's On Chop's iPod And Win" to give away the last set of Home Show tickets. Congrats to Andrew who knew it was the theme to the Dukes Of Hazzard TV show.
Luann won the 7:10 payoff question...
We sent Chop out with more tickets to Surf's Up. Plus he had lottery tickets (tomorrow's Pick is worth $11.2 million dollars!).
We sampled new music from Kenny Chesney, which is posted on the KiiM-FM website here. We should have the entire song on Tuesday morning!
Did you know that one of the words in last night's Spelling Bee final was "Porkchop?" Neither did I. But Chop has audio proof, so it must be true!
Paris Hilton's going to prison next week, so we got some great listener advice for her.
We spoke to Tom Kenny, he's the voice of Spongebob Squarepants. He's hosting a series on Turner Classic Movies called "Funday Night At The Movies" which is all about showing our kids the movies we all grew up on.

We sent Chop out in a Speed-o with a surfboard to promote the new movie Surf's Up. Here's the video:
See some of Shannon's Hawaii pictures here.
This is bugging me. This picture is of a bottle of shampoo (12oz bottle of Herbal Essence DRAMA QUEEN berry tea and orange flavor) in our shower:

The question is, "On Average, Who Do You Talk To More Than Anyone Else?” I don't have the matching bottle of conditioner, so I don't know what the answer is. But the answer to the question on the conditioner's bottle is, "pants."
Thanks to everyone who gave us the ANSWER (from the conditioner bottle): YOURSELF. And the question on the conditioner bottle, for which the answer (on the shampoo bottle) is PANTS, is, What was considered a dirty word in England in the 1800's?.
Contest: KGUN9: Laptops Up Or Laptops Down? Congratulations to Pat who correctly guessed that the news anchors on KGUN-9 would return from their commerical break with their laptops open. Or closed. I forget which, but Pat was a winner.
7:10 payoff winner: Lloyd. Congratulations!
Song Of The Day Winner: Lisa.
At 8:35 Jason Aldean called in. The correct pronounciation of this name is AL-dean, not ALL-dean. Pork Chop was right. We learned that he and his wife are expecting their second girl! His new CD is called Relentless and is in stores now. Buy it because he needs to start a college fund!
I'll be at Breakers today at 11. Print the coupon off the KiiM-FM website or check your email (if you're in the Loyal Listener Club) to save money on admission.

Pork Chop and I are filling in for Max and Shannon this week as they are in Hawaii with Craig Morgan on the cruise. If you tuned in and heard something you wanted to know more about, most likely the information is here:
Maybe you heard, Charles Nelson Reilly passed away over the weekend. He was a regular on the TV show Match Game. At 6:40, we played Pork Chop Match Game, where the contestant had to fill in the blank and match Pork Chop's answer. The question was, "At Pork Chop's diner, the soup has so much hair in it, before Chop serves it, he _____________'s it." Steve was our contestant and he said "comb." Chop also said comb, so we had a match and Steve gets to go the Pima County Home And Garden Show this weekend and qualify for that $14,000 outdoor bar-b-q package.
We discussed Dale Earnhardt Jr's leaving DEI and several listeners gave Chop some great ideas about what to do with his #8 tattoo if Junior can't keep his number. You'll hear them later this week if you subscribe to the podcast. Or go right here for the audio.
Five-year-old Elizabeth reviewed Shrek The Third and recommends it.
I gave Chop a challenge - I hooked him up to jumper cables and gave him no more than 60 seconds to fill us in on the country music news or he would get jolted. He succeeded today, but there's always tomorrow. Listen here:
At 8:40 we played "Who's Older." Our contestant was Sherry and she guessed that Phil Vassar was older than the woman who played Blair on The Facts of Life, so she won tickets to our KiiM-FM screening of Surf's Up next Tuesday at Park Place. More chances to win all week, so stay tuned!
Congrats to our Song Of The Day winners, Rica and Harold.
Did you miss our 7:10 question? That's updated here! Our winner was Melissa!
Finally, the video for the piano-playing cat is here!
Tomorrow, Chop's out with tickets to Surf's Up, and we'll talk to Jason Aldean at about 8:35.
I'll leave you with the picture that Shannon sent from her cellphone of Hawaii:

Games We Play And Some We Don't (yet)
Here's some of the games we play to give away stuff on the station.
But some of the best NAMES for contests haven't really turned into great ACTUAL contests. I'm still trying to figure out how these contests would work...
Lick A Cactus For Money
Google'ing For Prizes!
Vending Machine Battleship!
... so we haven't tried them yet. But they have great names, don't they?

All this week we'll be giving you a chance to win, if you can guess what's in my mouth! Here's how it works: we'll give Kricket 75-cents to go to the vending machine and buy something. I won't know what it is. I'll try to describe it based upon what it tastes like. If you can guess what it is, you'll win!
Day #1: Flaming Hot Cheetos
Day #2: ROLOS
Day #3: Ruffles potato chips!
Day #4: Licorice!
Day #5: a KIT-KAT bar!
