iPhone Wallpaper: Tampa Sunset

I've got a HUGE library of great-looking photos that I've been turning into iPhone wallpaper images. Since I'm doing it for me, I figured I'd post them for YOU in case you wanted to use them, too.

The top one is for iPhone 4S and the bottom is for iPhone 5 and up. You should be able to save it to your phone's camera roll, and from there, set it as wallpaper.

This edition features a sailboat at sunset in Tampa, Florida.

Back In The Day

A long time ago (1990) I was a top-40 DJ. One of the radio stations I worked at was Z103 in Tallahassee. Today someone posted audio from my show back in the day. Give it a listen!

You can't go home again

In 1998 Dena and I built our first home together - a four bedroom house on a pond in Jacksonville. We lived there for about three years before moving to Tucson in 2001. While it wasn't full of fancy upgrades, it held a LOT of special memories for us - our first house, the house we lived in when we got married, etc.

We sold it in June of 2001 when we moved to Arizona. And when we would visit family in Jacksonville on vacation, we couldn't bring ourselves to go past it and see if it had changed over the years, until a few years ago when we were in town for Thanksgiving... we finally had the guts to drive past and show our daughter where we had lived. The house was a different color, but otherwise looked about the same from the outside.

Then today I learned that the house is for sale. The people who bought it from us were moving on. Who knows what their story is... a job change,  family stuff, whatever.  But the Zillow listing offered us an opportunity to see "inside" the house that had once held so many of our favorite memories.

And it looks totally different. I'm happy that the people we sold it to were able to make it "their own" and create new memories for their family. But it is a little weird to think that there are basically no traces of our time living there, other than our own photos and memories.

You can't go home again.

Musical Guilty Pleasure: Gloria Estefan singing in Spanish

I have no idea what she's singing about - I just love the Cuban and Caribbean rhythms. I think I own two CDs of Gloria Estefan's, where all she sings is in Spanish.

On a related note, I think I'd like to visit Cuba when it becomes free - as it inevitably will, someday.  The pictures I've seen make it look like a time machine - old American classic cars roaming the streets, cobbled together by homemade spare parts and ingenuity. Art Deco buildings. And of course, the music.

Once Cuba becomes free, I believe the rapid economic change will lead to great prosperity for its people, led by Cuban-Americans returning to their homeland to invest in the country's future. A lot will change - for the better- very quickly. But I'd kind of like to see it BEFORE everyone on the island is driving Hummers and Corollas.

Seaworld!

We're driving to Seaworld today! Except that, it's raining. Of course, you're SUPPOSED to get wet at Seaworld!
But its Orlando, so if we decide not to go to Seaworld, there is lots we can do & stay dry.
